Sandblasting is a process by which the most superficial part of a material is eroded by abrasion and due to a jet of sand. By far the most frequent use is for the surface cleaning of metals, however it can also be used for the engraving of inscriptions and images on marble and stones. It can be performed on rough surfaces, to ensure greater adherence to the subsequent treatment (for example painting, chrome plating, anodizing, zinc plating).
